Cars in German Town Found Covered with Swastikas in Blood, Law Enforcement Report

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Police
Police reported they were contacted by a man who found a car in Hanau marked with reddish liquid

Roughly 50 automobiles have been marked with what appears to be blood from a person in the Germany's town of Hanau close to Frankfurt, as reported by police.

Automobiles, walls and postal boxes were defaced, occasionally with swastikas, they stated in a release.

Officers say they were alerted during the night on Wednesday evening, when a man discovered that a automobile in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been marked with a reddish-hued fluid.

The liquid had been applied in the pattern of a Nazi symbol, they reported.

Law enforcement then located many other smeared cars and building exteriors in the nearby vicinity.

Nazi symbols are illegal in Germany under laws prohibiting the public display of Nazi symbols.

Law enforcement say early analysis indicate the substance was probably human blood.

"There is still no lead as to its origin; officials are presently not cognizant of any injuries in relation with the incident," they commented.

Municipal representatives announced they were attempting "to solve the case" and have requested to the residents for tips.

A senior representative said the incident rendered him without words and had to be solved rapidly.

"This incident hits the very heart of Hanau and reopens the trauma of the extremist attack in 2020," he posted on a platform, mentioning the killing of nine victims by a assailant targeting residents of immigrant origin in February 2020.
